Dune Du Pilat

The immense Dune du Pilat is the largest sand dune in Europe. It is nearly 3 km (2 miles) long, 115 m (375 ft) high and 500 m (1,625 ft) wide. Aside form its panoramic view, the dune is a magnificent vantage point in autumn for viewing flocks of migratory birds as they pass overhead on their way to sanctuary at Le Teich.

The immense Dune du Pilat, stretching almost 3 km (2 miles) south of the inlet to Bassin d'Arcachon.
